Government; based from Mr. Webster’s definition, is the authoritative direction and administration of the affairs of men in a nation, state, city. The governing body. A particular form of ruling or governing. A governed territory. Management, control.
If I were to put it on my own words, Government simply means; the one that has the power to rule his people. On its shoulder lies the responsibility of serving his men. First on its list, always, is their betterment.
As a Political Science student of a progressive university, I can say that the power governing us is not using its total power for the betterment of its people which, must be its priority above all; especially above money.
Others could say that our government is actually doing its task at the greatest extent, performing it the way it should be. Fact is there that; “one can’t help others if he doesn’t help his self first.” Same as, the government can’t totally help his men if they wouldn’t be helping their selves first.
Talking about the government, one can’t avoid tackling about the one on top of it; the President. Studies shows that Arroyo regime is the most terrorist regime this country has ever had. According to the song “Demolition Squad” by the progressive band Datu’s Tribe, a Madame President voice-alike states: “We can make this nation rise once more. Let’s all fight poverty. Let’s kill the poor.” Playfully sarcastic.
The government should always think for the betterment of its people. Ironically, at present, people suffers. For the betterment of its people, its people are struggling, standing under the hot sunlight to avail their primary food at its “low price”. As an agricultural country, rice is one of our primary products. With this fact, Filipinos are being so anxious with its shortage. For the betterment of its people, Oil Price Hike is inevitable.
Madame President is like our mother. And like every mother, she cares for her children so much. She will do anything just to ensure their well-being.; but, just like every mother, she can’t do her every task alone. She needs help from them. More specifically, President Arroyo is in charge to ensure her people’s well-being; but, she can’t do it alone. She needs help to fulfill her duty. As for their children’s love and respect for them, children always obey their every order. Not until trust is broken.
Our situation now is definitely not what it must be. Instead of prioritizing the Education above all, Budget Cut is implemented. Prioritizing the national defense, instead. Ensure the betterment of its people, Political Killings are rampant.
